An actual copy of my book ....

This morning I received a parcel in the mail that contained the first ever paperback copies of my book. I simply cannot describe just how incredible it feels to have a copy of a book that you have written in your hands, for the first time. Me being me though, I had to criticise and decided that I had chosen the wrong book sizing so had to go online again to amend it - but that aside it felt incredible to have my novel look like a real book!

I am a passionate advocate of the book, I love the smell of them, the feel of them - from the crispness of a brand new book, to the musty, dustiness of a priceless historical gem. There is something about the book that makes me feel utterly safe and secure. I will be honest, my passion for the actual realities of a book did make me question whether I wanted to publish in ebook format, but the more I am dealing with self-publishing options etc, the more I am realising the benefits of e-readers. I can certainly admit that it would save me a lot of space and weight in my bags when I go away on holiday - as I usually take at least four hefty tomes away with me on even a weeks break anywhere.

So, I can definitely say that I am gradually becoming less and less offended by the idea of the world of electronics barging into my world of paper/papyrus and sagging bookshelves - I felt the same way when vinyl was replaced by the CD, the CD by the MP3 - but though I seem to have come a little late to the party on all of these formats, I can certainly say that each one has its place, and I am sure that books will continue to have a place in our hearts - whatever may happen electronically - in the same way that the crunch and crackle of an album can take you right back to when you first heard an old favourite.

And now we have standard book format!!!!

Well, Mills and Boon declined to publish my book for me, so I have gone ahead and self-published it in book format too now! It is amazing how many ways there are, that are easy and free to get things happening now!

So, hopefully within a few weeks, people will be able to go in to their local Waterstones, or Barnes and Noble or wherever, clutching the ISBN (978-1-4475-3072-5) to order copies of my little book in paperback too! This I know will please my Mum, who simply can't get her head around the idea of books on screens (well her eyesight either - but that's a whole different story).

But if you just can't wait, and desperately want to get your hands on it asap - then you can order it direct from Lulu.com  An Aristocratic Awakening Paperback Version

I am so excited by everything that I am making happen for myself, and can't wait to see a little collection of Rosie Mac novels on my bookshelves so I am off to purchase a load right now!! xxx

woohooooo!!!!!

Terribly overexcited today. My book is available for purchase online at smashwords.com!

I cannot explain how proud, how excited, and how ridiculously giddy I feel that my book is now available for public consumption. I really hope that people will enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it, but I guess I will have to wait and see. It's a peculiar feeling, there is the above levels of ridicuous happiness and pride, but there is also a peculiar sense of loss, knowing that I have now completed this chapter of my life, the chapter that has had Carrie and Daniel my heroine and hero, as close - if not closer - to me than friends and family have been over the last 6 months. I am now in the position where I have to leave them to fend for themselves, and I feel what I guess parents must feel when they wave their kids off to school, or University, or off into the big wide world. I am worried that they won't thrive, that I will miss them terribly, and that I'm not really ready to let them go. Still, they are on their way now, so I don't have much choice do I?

Take care all, hope you enjoy it if you decide to go and give it a read. xxxx

Well, we have lift off!

Very excited, my book is in the process of being published on Kindle, and is being converted to smashwords.com too. I find it mad to think that with just a few minutes of uploading my hard work will be available to the world! Very, very exciting that it is now so easy to get your work available to the public.

Hopefully it will be possible for me to download a kindle copy to my android netbook, and a pre compatible version to my palm pre by Monday morning! It isn't quite the same as having an actual book in your hand, but that will come, I am sure of it.

I realised that one of the best things I can do with this blog, is to give readers more insight into the characters of my current novels, and the best way that I can think of to do that, is to include scenes I wrote that didn't make it into the final draft - they will give you insights that I hope are obvious from what got left behind, but are nice to have confirmed.

I will start on Monday - don't want anyone getting a sneaky peak before the book is published do we!
Have a great weekend xxx

Welcome to my brand spanking new blog ...

Well, today is the day I start to take my writing utterly seriously. Today I have set up my Facebook page, a Twitter account, and this blog. I hope that someone out there will enjoy the ramblings of a wannabe romance writer, talking about the trials and tribulations of trying to make a living out of her passion.

Rarely does a day go by without the need to write. It is almost as if without it I might burst. I am always astounded that my ramblings generally seem to be pretty readable, and that the characters begin to breathe and come to life, leading their fascinating lives with so little effort from me. That isn't to say that I don't find it hard to keep them under control, or that they don't need some serioulsy heavy editing some days, but the pleasure they bring makes them like friends.

I have been working off and on with my current characters for over 6 years, and I will be honest I am a little bit sad that my journey with them may well finally be coming to a close. I truly love them, and hope that you will too - when I find them a publisher.

This blog will be an erratic and often crazed glimpse of my attempts to get my first book published, my second book written, and everything that happens in my life around those things. I hope you won't be too bored, but it will be nice for me to let off some steam every now and again.

Thanks for reading x
